The Canadian Cancer Society is a not-for-profit organization that offers information and support to Canadians living with cancer. It is a national, community-based organization that strives to eradicate cancer and to enhance the quality of life of the people affected by cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society targets all Canadians as they aim to educate, promote awareness and encourage donations.

The Canadian Cancer Society has invested in research that has contributed to monumental progress against cancer. Today, over 60% of Canadians who are diagnosed with cancer will survive at least five years after diagnosis, while survival was about 25% in the 1940’s. With more knowledge about what causes cancer, its development and treatment options, the Canadian Cancer Society has improved and continues to improve the quality of life for those who live with cancer. In 2014 and 2015, the Society funded $44 million into research that supported over 400 projects nationwide making the Canadian Cancer Society the largest national charitable funder of cancer research.

Thanks to thousands of generous Canadians from coast to coast, over 70,000 ponytails have been donated and made into wigs to help women living with cancer regain their confidence and sense of self. The Canadian Cancer Society has wig rooms in many community offices across the nation for patients in need of a wigs. Since 2007, 1,900 wigs have been created, donated, and distributed to women all across Canada who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
